Required New FLSA Posters
Should Be Displayed by 8-1-16
A mandatory poster update has occurred for two of the Federal required notices. Attached are copies of the posters you can reproduce and post:
The Fair Labor Standards Act has been revised to include information:
- New information discussing the consequences of incorrectly classifying workers as independent contractors;
- New information relating to the rights of nursing mothers;
- Updated information regarding enforcement by the DOL; and
- Revised information relating to tip credits.
Also both the FLSA and Employee Polygraph Protection Act were updated with the revised penalty information, removing previous limits of penalty amounts. Both notices are to be posted by August 1st, 2016.
These posters are important to California employers and compliance with the law advises posting them by August 1, 2016. You can print copies from the attachments or order copies from an excellent supplier - All in One Posters at http://www.allinoneposters.com.
You won't be in great danger if you wait until January 2017 to post a new set of combined Federal/California posters at that time. But to be safe, we wanted to alert you to this FLSA update that is effective on August 1, 2016.
These important recommendations are lifelong practices.
